Handy Hints - Softwood Garden Furniture
Pine is a typical softwood used throughout the garden furniture industry. It is important to treat all softwoods so ensure that it has been treated before you purchase or apply a propritery preservative immediately after purchase. Most Pine furniture will be dip impregnated with Preservative oil in order to protect against cracking in the wood and also to withstand damp and rain. For extra protection we recommend that softwoods are treated with a clear wood preserver prior to assembly and that the process be repeated every year before use or if the wood appears dry .
Always ensure that your outdoor furniture is dry and free from dirt, dust and grease before applying and do not forget to treat the base of each leg with preserver to prevent water absortion.Colour variation after treatment is normal.
Store garden furniture in unheated premises during the winter.
